Rio's William & Mary Charter Day Address
Rio’s campaign to be the Berkeley District School Board
representative rests on a few core principles:
-
Education should be guided, above all, by common sense and an unwavering commitment to the value of a quality education.
-
Our entire school system, students, teachers and administrators, should continue to strive for efficiency and excellence, not efficiency or excellence.
-
Our educational policies should look to the most current and relevant research regarding what students need to be healthy and successful and what our teachers need to be effective and inspired.
-
The firm conviction that teachers are our allies not our adversaries when it comes to educating our children. What’s good for teachers, is good for our students.
-
A great school system, and a well- educated community, benefit everyone in the community, even those residents who are no longer participating directly in the public school system.
-
Good schools are good for business, great schools are even better. Simply put, James City County should strive for greatness in education for all students.
